Chinese foundry cokes are mostly produced from Beehive Ovens. Foundry cokes are mainly used in cupola furnaces due it’s big size and strong better holding up functions in the Cupola furnaces.

Foundry Coke/hard coke is special and cupola molten iron coke. Foundry Coke is the main fuel cupola molten iron. Its role is to make molten iron melting charge and overheating, supporting column to maintain its good air permeability. Therefore, foundry coke with large block size, low reactivity, porosity, has small impact crushing strength, ash and sulfur content is low enough. It is widely used in iron and non-ferrous metal smelting, casting, chemical industry, calcium carbide and ferroalloy, etc. The coke in a cupola functions not only as a fuel but also, and more important, as a medium of heat transfer.
